Chair Strength, Balance and Yoga with Carolyn Carpentiere In-Person / Online

Registration for Great Neck cardholders and residents begins October 29 at 9:30 AM, online, in-person, or via phone. Non-residents are welcome as walk-ins, as space allows. 

Classes run November 6, 13, 20 & 27 and December 4 & 11. Please register once for the whole series. This is a hybrid series and will take place in-person at the Main Library and virtually on Zoom. All registrants will also receive the Zoom link. Please wear comfortable clothes.

Regular exercise can help boost energy, maintain your independence, and manage symptoms of illness or pain. Exercise can even reverse some of the symptoms of aging. And not only is exercise good for your body, it’s also good for your mind, mood, and memory. 

What each class includes:

  • Centering meditation: focusing on the breath to help clear the mind
     
  • Warm up: Get in motion to warm the muscles and joints to keep them safe as we progress to stretching and strengthening inviting movement to each and every part of the body
     
  • Isometric strength: Work on postural corrections from too much time spent sitting. Help avoid injuries.
     
  • Stretching: Yoga poses to keep the body and mind more elastic, Improve your flexibility loosen tight muscles and re-energize your daily routine
     
  • Balance and proprioception: Simple balance training and proprioception exercises can improve stability and reduce injuries
     
  • Closing Meditation: To relax the body and mind and leave you feeling ready for anything that comes your way.

Carolyn Carpentiere is passionate about mind-body health and it is her belief that it holds the solution to most all health problems. Carolyn received her 200-hour yoga certification at Long Island Yoga School in 2009 and has continued to work in and study many other holistic solutions to health including Mindfulness Meditation and Reiki. She has studied at Kripalu in the Berkshires, Yoga International and the Open Center in NYC. She has passion for learning solutions to help people connect to their innate healing potential.  Carolyn teaches at gyms, clinical centers, corporations and privately in the NY area.
