The Great Gatsby Revisited: An Art Exhibition by Catherine Abrams

The Great Gatsby Revisited: An Art Exhibition by Catherine Abrams In-Person

See the exhibition now through April 30 in the Lower Level Art Gallery!

In celebration of 100 years since the publication of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, the Great Neck Library is presenting the artwork of Catherine Abrams, with the title The Great Gatsby Revisited. Catherine, a local artist, has been presenting her work in New York City and Long Island for a number of years. More than 14 large landscapes and small-scale portraits reconstruct the Gatsby era of the 1920s at West Egg and East Egg, today's Great Neck Bay and Manhasset Bay respectfully. Familiar locations overlooking Long Island Sound, the Golden Coast, are brought to life once again together with some of the novel's characters. Enjoy the show!

Catherine Abrams is a visual artist with years of exhibiting in New York City and Long Island. She has an M.A. in Studio and Environmental Art and a Ph.D. in Art Education from New York University, and is an active member of the LIC-Artists/Praxall Gallery and member of the Art Students League of New York. Catherine taught at Rhode Island College, The University of the Art in Philadelphia and has been faculty at the Art Education Department of Queens College/City University of New York.
