The Benefits of Volunteering & The Loneliness Epidemic

The Benefits of Volunteering & The Loneliness Epidemic In-Person

In 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General declared loneliness a public health crisis, emphasizing its impact on both individuals and society. Explore how volunteer work addresses the growing crisis of social isolation by fostering connection, purpose, and emotional well-being, and how to begin your journey of giving back to your community.

Presented by Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands, an innovative community program serving family caregivers in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties by connecting them with a circle of help that includes trained volunteers who provide an array of respite services. WHHH is offered by Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, in cooperation with partnering community organizations, and is funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.

Register online, in-person, or via phone, beginning April 29 at 10 AM for Great Neck cardholders and residents. Non-residents are welcome as walk-ins, as space allows.
