Classical Music from the Light, to the Serious: Oboe with Piano Recital performed by Frederick Katzenberg In-Person

Join us for an oboe and piano recital, featuring the sublime Adagio from Mozart's Oboe Concerto, the operatic Donizetti Oboe Sonata, the mysterious Satie Gymnopedies, the haunting baroque Rameau oboe melodies from "Les Indes Galantes," the romantic Nielsen Fantasiestucke, and the inviting Albeniz Tango.

Registration for Great Neck cardholders and residents begins October 30 at 10:00 AM, online, in-person, or via phone. Non-residents are welcome as walk-ins, as space allows.

Frederick Katzenberg's oboe solo concert career is based in eastern New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, where he has performed in concert halls, theatres, museums, churches, and libraries. He also has toured western New York and Washington D.C., and given recitals at William Paterson University, Ramapo College of New Jersey, and the Moravian College Music Institute. In New Jersey, his recitals have been broadcast on television and on the internet. Mr. Katzenberg received a NYSCA grant to present a concert series in Putnam County. He premiered in New York and New Jersey, the Dace Aperans Juravas (Sea Songs). He also premiered in the same two states, the Walter Skolnik Oboe Sonatina. A multiple ASCAP award winner, pianist Jonathan Faiman is a New York based musician and instructor with more than 25 years of experience teaching piano, voice, and composition. He currently serves as a Music Educator for the Irvington School District and has also taught at Concordia College, the Preparatory Division of Manhattan School of Music, and Bloomingdale School of Music. Jonathan is a member of the Locrian Chamber Players and holds a doctorate from Manhattan School of Music, where he studied piano with Leon Fleisher and Veda Kaplinsky, and composition with Nils Vigeland. He made his orchestral conducting debut with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has performed concertos, solo recitals, and chamber music concerts with The Ambrosia Trio and other musicians throughout North America and in Israel. In New York City, he has performed extensively in most major halls, including Avery Fisher, Florence Gould, Merkin, Miller Theatre, Symphony Space, and Weill/Carnegie Recital Hall.
