NYC STREETS: a photo-art exhibition by Michael Liman

NYC STREETS: a photo-art exhibition by Michael Liman In-Person

Stop by the Main Library from December 19, 2025 through January 23, 2026 to view the exhibition in the Lower Level Art Gallery. Be sure to join us for the Art Reception on January 5, 2026 from 6-8 PM.

NYC STREETS is Liman’s exploration of memory and motion, presence and absence, uncovering the beauty within the everyday.

Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, Liman is a street photographer and visual storyteller whose work captures the city’s shifting rhythms, fleeting gestures, and layered sense of place. Working in both film and digital, color and black & white, he reveals what he calls “settings within settings” — moments where people, architecture, and time converge to tell quiet urban stories.

Drawing on more than 45 years in television and motion pictures, Liman brings a cinematic eye to still photography. His acclaimed book NYC Streets portrays Manhattan as a living organism — always changing, yet timeless. Earlier work, The Sands of Summer, explored the warmth and rituals of Atlantic Beach, New York.
